St Mungo's is a multi-racial bi-denominational church in the Northern suburbs of Johannesburg. We have a heart for community outreach both in our neighbourhood of Bryanston and in Dieplsoot. Apart from being church in the conventional way, we are experimenting with new ways of being church by starting communities of faith that don't involve pews and pulpit. By getting people together who have an interest in faith in non-conventional ways, we are striving toward becoming a missional congregation.
Come and have a look, we'd love to know you.
We recognize our absolute dependence on God as our Father, on Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Lord and on the Holy Spirit as our Helper and Guide.
Job 38 - 42: 6; Isaiah 40: 1 -31; Hebrews 1: 1 -4, 10 - 12
We are committed to acknowledge this dependence in regular prayer and worship.
Psalm 95: 1 - 7; Acts 2: 42 - 47
We believe that the Bible is given us by God as the supreme authority for life and faith and should be studied faithfully and expounded clearly.
We are committed to personal spiritual growth and we believe that this kind of life-change happens best in small groups.
Acts 2: 42 - 47; Rom 12: 1 - 2
We week to respond to God’s call before any other and to offer Him only our best effort.
Mal 1: 6 - 14; Exodus 2: 19a; 2 Cor 8: 5; Col 3: 17; 1 Tim 4: 12; 2 Tim 2: 15
Because Jesus Christ is Lord of our lives and depending on His grace we strive to live distinctively Christian lives.
Rom 12: 1 - 3, 9 - 21; Eph 4: 22 - 6: 9; Phil 2: 1 - 15; Heb 13: 1 - 6; James 1: 19 - 2: 17; 1 Jn 2: 4 - 6
We strive to build a loving and gracious fellowship where people are healed and reconciled and personal relationships are nurtured (where racial, cultural, economic and work-related barriers are broken down).
Ps 133; Jn 13: 34 - 35; 1 Cor 13; Eph 4: 1 - 3, 9, 31; 1 Jn 2: 9 - 11; Jn 3: 11 - 19
We strive to be culturally relevant while holding firmly to the truth of the Scriptures.
1 Cor 9: 19 - 23; Col 4: 4 - 6
We believe that all members of the church are ministers and we will strive to use our God-given gifts and abilities to the glory of God, and for the strengthening of the church.
Rom 12: 1 - 13; 1 Cor 12 & 14; Eph 4: 11 - 1
We believe it is important to nurture and develop healthy Christian family life and relationships within the church and society.
Eph 5: 21 - 6: 4; Col 3: 18 - 21
God loves all people and therefore we will reach out to those around us with the saving message of Jesus Christ.
Mat 18: 10 - 14; Matt 28: 16 - 20; Luke 5: 30 - 32; Luke 1
We accept our God-give responsibility to be involved in social action to relieve and empower those who are poor, hungry, cold, in prison or are unjustly treated.
Isaiah 58: 1 - 12; Amos 2: 6 - 7; Matt 25: 31 - 46; Lk 4: 18 - 19; Gal 6: 9 - 10
